New files have been released Tuesday for the Nfusion line for an IKS solution. Most notably it appears that there is no initial release supporting the Nfusion NOVA. The reason behind the issue involves clones and a security chip located on the Ethernet card. It has been announced the Nova users can turn their box into an Nfusion Solaris by purchasing an Ethernet Upgrade card. This card jumped from about $29 to $79 as news of this hit the street.
This ethernet controller card contains the security chip that the operators of the Nfusion S.U.N.S. server now require to authenticate IKS sessions for retrieving necessary codewords to decrypt channels.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2009, Nfusion released its first Dish Network IKS file for all supported receivers EXCEPT the Nfusion NOVA. This was done because the Nfusion NOVA does not contain the security chip they are using to authenticate receivers and prohibit clones of the popular Nfusion NOVA from using IKS.
The premise is of course to prohibit clones from being able to work with the IKS server and has absolutely nothing to do with the Nfusion NOVA's actual technical ability to share in the same IKS success of other models. They have chosen simply to put clone killing ahead of end user support for those who have purchased Genuine Nfusion NOVA receivers.

**Nfusion Nova Update**

This is truly a poor move by nfusion and it is a shame that anyone owning a Nova will have no N3 support for Dish now. I do not plan on owning another nfusion after this release. I have a Nova and it is great but I see no reason in me having to purchase anything to keep this thing going. It's not my fault that the Nova was cloned. Will they discontinue support on any of the other boxes if they are cloned?

Apparently the nFusion support team had asked retailers to stop selling these Ethernet upgrades until they com to a decision as these upgrades unfortunately work on clones as well defeating this purpose.
More news on this should be released today or early next week.
Personally I had over a years use and although the box is pretty much maintenance free they should have better communication and notify their users that in 'x' number of months you will need to upgrade or get another receiver. $80 is no the end of the world but being in Canada the $80 USD turns to close to $100 plus $20 or so in shipping so if the need should arise for an upgrade I might just buy another nFusion. I still think it's one of the top 3 FTA receivers out there.

This is Normal, No worries...
This is how the Coders sell boxes, if a box worked forever, then there is no incentive to sell new boxes when the old are working fine.
I got rid of my 2 year old Nova and bought a Phoenix, the Nova had paid for itself already so no lost there.
Support NFusion and buy there new STB's

Say whatever you want. I was this close ---> <--- to buying not just one, but two Nova nFusions back before I finally decided on my ViewSat PRO's.
I am certainly thankful now that I DID NOT get those Nova nFusions!

Currently testing ViewSat Ultra and ViewSat PRO, and I love them BOTH!
